India Navigates Global Energy Crisis: Assured Fuel Supply Amidst Turmoil

Measures are taken to diversify crude imports, and consumer prices are kept stable, mitigating panic and ensuring priority supplies.

In the wake of the ongoing West Asia crisis, India's government has assured its citizens of a stable fuel supply. Contrary to concerns about shortages, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri announced in the Lok Sabha that the availability of petrol, diesel, kerosene, and aviation turbine fuel remains firm, with no disruption in the domestic supply chain.
The government has implemented strategic measures to navigate the crisis, increasing non-Hormuz crude imports to 70% and diversifying sources. This move ensures a steady inflow of crude oil, despite disruptions in traditional routes. As a result, domestic fuel delivery cycles remain unchanged, safeguarding kitchens across the nation.
Despite a surge in global market prices, consumer costs for LPG in India are being held well below regional comparators. This price stability is part of the government's broader strategy to manage demand and prevent hoarding, ensuring that essential services and households have uninterrupted access to crucial fuel supplies.
