Kavinder Gupta Sworn In as Himachal Pradesh Governor, Vows for Development and Sustainability

In an understated yet solemn ceremony at Lok Bhavan, former Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta assumed his role as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. The oath was administered by Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, in the presence of several dignitaries including Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh and Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. A first for Lok Bhavan, the ceremony featured renditions of 'Vande Mataram' bookending the event alongside the National Anthem.

Following the formalities, Gupta acknowledged the significance of the Governor's role as a non-partisan constitutional office. He expressed his resolve to collaborate with the state government to advance various initiatives. Gupta, drawing from his experiences in Ladakh, professed a commitment to bolstering education, fostering environmental conservation, and enriching the state's tourism sector, particularly religious tourism.

Gupta outlined his priorities which include the effective realization of the National Education Policy, youth and tribal welfare, and infrastructure enhancement under central schemes. He advocated for linking sports initiatives like Khelo India to the campaign against drug abuse and emphasized border development programs. Confident in the collective capabilities of the government and civic bodies, Gupta is optimistic about driving Himachal Pradesh towards inclusive growth and sustainability.
