India Power Sector to Go Digital with New Energy Stack Pilot

India is poised to advance its power sector with the launch of the India Energy Stack, a comprehensive digital infrastructure designed to streamline operations across the electricity value chain.

The initiative, slated for a pilot launch in five states next financial year, has been allocated a budget of Rs 51.3 crore, Union Minister of State for Power Shripad Naik revealed in a Parliament session. Delhi, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Mumbai have been chosen for the initial rollout, with full nationwide implementation expected by the fiscal year 2026-27.

As India witnesses rapid growth in renewable energy and electric vehicles, the India Energy Stack is anticipated to address current challenges posed by fragmented systems and limited digital integration. By facilitating standardized protocols, this infrastructure aims to enable secure communication and interoperability across all components of the power sector.
