The National Commission for Women, alongside the Nagaland State Commission for Women, is set to conduct district-wide 'Mahila Jan Sunwai' (public hearings) in Nagaland from March 9 to 13. These hearings are designed to offer women a direct avenue to express grievances and receive support, specifically in cases of domestic violence, workplace harassment, and other gender-based injustices.

NSCW chairperson W Nginyeih Konyak highlighted at a press briefing that the initiative aims to expedite grievance redressal and raise awareness about women's rights. Special benches will be constituted with representatives from various authorities to provide immediate legal guidance and ensure that grievances are addressed promptly.

The program is part of a larger national outreach effort, coinciding with International Women's Day, focusing on substantive advocacy for women's safety and justice. The hearings will span twelve districts, with aims to improve accessibility, especially for women in rural areas, by eliminating bureaucratic obstacles.
