The Department of State Taxes and Excise is set to revolutionize its allotment process for retail excise liquor vends and toll barriers for the financial year 2026-27. This will be done through a pioneering online e-auction method, as officials disclosed on Sunday.

This decision, aimed at bolstering transparency, accountability, and ease of conducting business, allows the bidding process to be conducted unit-wise. Prospective bidders will be able to place their bids remotely, marking a transition to a digital-first approach.

The Commissioner of State Taxes and Excise, Yunus, emphasized the need for applicants to register on the designated e-auction portal using a valid digital signature. By ensuring that all necessary documents and updates are available online, the department seeks to provide a seamless bidding experience.
