Grounded Alert: Air India Boeing 787-8 Faces Safety Concerns

An Air India Boeing 787-8 aircraft has been taken out of service after a pilot identified a potential issue with the fuel control switch. The airline is collaborating with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to investigate the problem, ensuring that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is fully informed of developments.

The Air India spokesperson confirmed the pilot's report, emphasizing the importance of passenger and crew safety. The spokesperson noted that after being alerted, the airline conducted checks on all fuel control switches across its Boeing 787 fleet and found no problems, acting swiftly to comply with a prior DGCA directive.

This development comes on the heels of a tragic crash involving another 787-8, which occurred on June 12 near Ahmedabad. The crash, which resulted in the deaths of 260 people, including those on the ground, is under investigation, revealing that engine shutdowns were a key factor. DGCA Director General Faiz Ahmed Kidwai highlighted last year the regulator's dedication to proactive safety measures in the aviation sector.
