The Kerala government announced a new Women's Security Scheme to provide financial support for women aged 35-60 from poor families, including trans women, with a monthly pension of Rs 1,000. Kerala's Bold Women's Security Scheme Unveiled

The Kerala government has launched an ambitious Women's Security Scheme designed to offer financial aid to women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, including trans women.

Announced by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the scheme grants a monthly pension of Rs 1,000 to women aged 35 to 60 who aren't covered by existing welfare programs. Approximately 31.34 lakh women are expected to benefit, with a budget of Rs 3,800 crore annually.

Alongside this, the cabinet has approved a 'Connect to Work Scholarship' for young people pursuing skill development courses and issued monthly operational grants to Kudumbashree ADSs to bolster community activities across Kerala.
