In a decisive move to bolster road safety, Chandigarh's Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav chaired a crucial meeting of the District Road Safety Committee. Convened to assess ongoing infrastructure improvements, the meeting gathered key stakeholders including the SSP (Traffic & Security) and officials from various departments such as Engineering, Health, and NHAI.

During the session, Yadav instructed the Engineering Department to opt for bitumen instead of concrete in constructing cycle tracks, highlighting its superior performance and cyclist comfort. Concerned about the sluggish progress on the Hallomajra to Behlana track, he urged timely completion. He further mandated that all road signages align with the Indian Roads Congress's latest standards to ensure consistency.

Yadav lauded recent safety additions, including the installation of rumble strips to moderate speed, and the marking of zebra crossings to bolster pedestrian safety. He underscored the importance of timely project completions to enhance road safety and foster smoother traffic flows, aiming to create a safer commuting environment in Chandigarh, according to an official release.
