In a worrying escalation, a sixth United Nations staff member has been detained by Houthi forces in Yemen, a development confirmed by a U.N. spokesperson on Monday.
The latest detention follows Houthi raids on UN offices in Sanaa, Yemen's capital, with the forces reportedly seizing IT and communication equipment, according to Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the U.N. secretary general.
The UN has vociferously condemned these detentions, citing that ongoing actions by the Houthis have increasingly complicated the agency’s mission to deliver humanitarian aid to needy areas within Houthi-controlled Yemen.
