In a decisive move against terror, Delhi's Patiala House Court on Friday authorized a three-day police custody for two ISIS operatives, Adnan Khan and another identified as Adnan, arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell. Their capture, ahead of Diwali, came amid allegations of planning a high-impact terror attack in a densely populated area of the capital.
Additional Commissioner of Police Pramod Kushwaha disclosed the operatives' connection to a foreign handler allegedly operating from the volatile Syria-Turkey border. Surveillance indicated they had scouted several crowded locations, including a key mall in South Delhi, purportedly gearing up for a strike during the festive season.
The operation yielded substantial evidences: a laptop, pen drives, and videos filled with ISIS propaganda were recovered, alongside potential IED-making components such as electronic parts and a wristwatch. Among the confiscated items was a chilling video pledging allegiance to ISIS. An elaborate investigation is ongoing to trace their communication with the handler and unearth other possible perpetrators.
