Nellore and Tamil Nadu on High Alert Amid Heavy Rainfall
Nellore District Collector Himanshu Shukla instructed departments to stay vigilant due to heavy rains. Schools are closed, and a 24/7 control room is operational. In Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister MK Stalin reviewed rain response measures. The Regional Meteorological Centre issued weather alerts for coastal regions.

Nellore District is on high alert as heavy rainfall continues to lash the area. District Collector Himanshu Shukla has directed the Revenue and Police departments to be fully prepared for any potential situations arising from the sustained downpour, as per an official release. Starting Wednesday, evacuation plans for residents in low-lying areas are to be implemented.
With the cyclonic weather and heavy rains persisting, schools across the district will remain closed on October 22. Collector Shukla has set up a control room at the Collectorate to monitor the situation round-the-clock until October 25, urging citizens to contact the control room for any issues.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has taken stock of the heavy rain situation. Many districts, including Chennai and Kanchipuram, are under adverse weather conditions. Stalin has called for swift action on public complaints and assured rice procurement will continue smoothly, as the government remains committed to ensuring public safety.
