Assam Regiment and Rifles: Honoring Legacy and Ensuring Security in Manipur

On October 17, 2025, the Assam Regiment of the Indian Army marked a significant event as its newly commissioned officers participated in a poignant outreach with ex-servicemen and their families in Manipur's Churachandpur district. According to an official release, the day began with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the HQ War Memorial, where tributes were paid to fallen comrades whose sacrifices continue to inspire future generations.

The officers then visited the homes of veterans from the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars, as well as other retired personnel residing in the district. The young officers received warm receptions, presented with traditional tribal shawls and local delicacies, symbolizing the rich cultural heritage and hospitality of the region. These interactions fostered a sense of unity and mutual respect, bridging generations through shared narratives of service and resilience. The day concluded with a rendition of the regimental anthem, "Badluram Ka Badan," encapsulating the Assam Regiment's spirit of "Tagra Raho" – Stay Strong, and resonating deeply with both the veterans and the young officers.

In a parallel event, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Manipur Police and the Indian Army, conducted an intelligence-driven operation in Bishnupur district's Phubala area on October 13. Following specific intelligence inputs about a weapon cache, the forces launched a coordinated operation. The operation resulted in the recovery of various weapons and ammunition, including an INSAS light machine gun, a Chinese hand grenade, and several bullet-proof helmets and plates. This joint action underscores the continued focus on security and peace in the region.
