Director Ritwik Pareek's film 'Dug Dug', a satire on religious fervor, is set for release with backing from acclaimed filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and others. The film will hit Indian theaters on May 8, as announced by the team. This comedy mystery, inspired by real events, discusses the formation of a commercialised religion surrounding a deceased man's bike believed to grant wishes.
The film made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2021 and was screened at various international festivals. Executive producers including Kashyap and Motwane decided to release it theatrically due to its compelling storytelling and cinematography, hoping for widespread acclaim.
Described as an authentic Indian story with humor and pragmatism by producers, 'Dug Dug' is produced by Bottle Rocket Pictures and will be released with support from filmmaking duo Kashyap, Motwane, Advani, and Bala. The film stars Altaf Khan, Gaurav Soni, Yogendra Singh, and Durga Lal Saini.
