Authorities in Tanzania have detained the fiancé of U.S. social media influencer Ashly Robinson, following her death in what police allege was a suicide attempt. Ashly, also known online as Ashlee Jenae, died after the incident on a vacation with her partner in Zanzibar.
Robinson, 31, and her fiancé, Joseph Isaac McCann, arrived in Zanzibar on April 4. Following reports of domestic issues, the couple was separated into different hotel rooms. Tragically, days later, Robinson attempted to hang herself and passed away in a local hospital.
Police have yet to press charges against McCann but hold his passport as investigations continue. The probe seeks to clarify the incident, with professional medical and forensic reports pending to shed further light on the case.
