The Bombay High Court has ruled against Anita Advani's plea to recognize her alleged relationship with the late Bollywood icon Rajesh Khanna as a marriage. Justice Sharmila Deshmukh dismissed the appeal, which contested a previous ruling by the Dindoshi sessions court in 2017.
Advani claimed a long-standing live-in relationship with Khanna, who passed away in July 2012. She filed a civil suit and a subsequent complaint under the Domestic Violence Act after being evicted from Khanna's residence, 'Aashirwad,' by his estranged wife Dimple Kapadia and their family.
The court had previously ruled that Advani's relationship with Khanna could not be recognized as a marriage and dismissed her claims for maintenance. This ruling reinforced that the late superstar's family could not be included in legal proceedings as Advani did not reside with them.
