Chaitra Navratri Celebrations Kick Off Across Uttar Pradesh

Chaitra Navratri celebrations commenced on Thursday across Uttar Pradesh, with large numbers of devotees visiting prominent shrines in Mathura and Varanasi. The festival, marking nine days of devotion, will culminate on March 27 with Ram Navami.
In Mathura, worshippers offered traditional items such as flowers, coconuts, and chunari at various Devi temples. Rituals began with 'kalash sthapana' and 'Mahabhishek', while numerous temples will perform kirtans, special prayers, and make offerings throughout the festival period.
Authorities in Varanasi reported increased footfall at temples from the early hours, as devotees offered prayers to various manifestations of Goddess Gauri. Comprehensive security arrangements, including drone surveillance, have been deployed to ensure the safety and smooth flow of crowds.
