Barcelona's current coach, Hansi Flick, has announced plans to retire from coaching after his tenure with the club. The German manager, who joined Barcelona in 2024, made his intentions clear during a press conference on Tuesday, ahead of the Champions League match against Newcastle.
Despite club president Joan Laporta's intent to extend Flick's contract until 2028, the coach has indicated that he wishes to conclude his career at Camp Nou. Flick cited his happiness with the environment and the support he's received, as well as his desire to discuss future plans with his family.
Flick, who has enjoyed a storied career with stints at Bayern Munich and the German national team, remains focused on his goals with Barcelona but confirmed he is not considering any further coaching roles elsewhere in the future.
