The IIFL Foundation, in collaboration with Enviro Creators Foundation and the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority, has embarked on a significant ecological initiative. They are planting 12,932 native saplings at the Smritivan Earthquake Memorial Forest in Bhuj, a tribute to the victims of the devastating earthquake on January 26, 2001.
Smritivan, recognized by UNESCO, mixes a world-class museum with a sprawling living forest atop Bhujiyo Hill. With over 500,000 trees, it stands as the world's largest Miyawaki forest, a method famed for dense, rapid reforestation.
The initiative not only honors memories but also champions environmental restoration in an ecologically and seismically sensitive region, highlighting community involvement and sustainable development.
