META 2023: A Tapestry of Theatre Excellence Unfolds
The Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) 2023, launching on March 19, will showcase 10 plays tackling themes like mythology and politics. These plays, selected from 422 entries across over 60 languages, celebrate rich Indian theatrical traditions through vivid storytelling and performances at notable Delhi venues.

The Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) is set to return for its 21st edition, commencing on March 19 at Kamani Auditorium and Shri Ram Centre Auditorium. This year's festival will feature 10 selected plays that explore compelling themes such as mythology, gender, politics, identity, and resistance.
Having received submissions from over 20 states and in more than 60 languages, META is a beacon for India's vibrant theatre culture. Plays have been nominated across 13 categories, spotlighting various theatrical elements like production, direction, and performance.
Jay Shah of the Mahindra Group expressed pride in supporting the diverse narratives selected this year, noting their role in cultural engagement. Sanjoy K Roy of Teamwork Arts commended the creativity and boundary-pushing nature of this year's participants, eagerly anticipating the grand finale on March 25.
