Remembering KGK: The Legacy of a Pioneering Journalist

Renowned journalist and author K Govindan Kutty, affectionately known as KGK, passed away at his residence after a brief illness, his family confirmed. He was 81 and leaves behind a wife, son, and daughter. Kutty's illustrious career spanned decades, marked by insightful political reporting at both state and national levels.

KGK was instrumental in breaking major news stories, such as the 1977 air crash involving then-Prime Minister Morarji Desai. He also reported on critical internal issues within the CPI(M) in the 1980s, influencing major political shifts in Kerala. His work with 'Indian Express' shaped many young journalists, captivated by his sharp and fluent prose.

A prolific author, Kutty penned biographies of influential figures including T N Seshan and Rajan Pillai, and his Malayalam book 'Kalakshepam' received critical acclaim. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed condolences, highlighting Kutty's indelible impact on journalism in the region.
