A Ramlila event is set to take place on February 20 in Moscow, bolstered by the Indian Embassy in Russia and aimed at strengthening people-to-people connections, according to officials on Sunday. Organizers promise an authentic experience with elaborate stage designs, traditional costumes, and music.
Russian artists will enact pivotal figures from the Ramayana, with Evgeny in the role of Ram, Daria as Sita, Murat playing Lakshman, and Dmitry portraying Hanuman, according to an official statement. The event is expected to draw large audiences, including Russian citizens, Indian diaspora members, and cultural enthusiasts.
Rameshwar Singh, the event's main organizer, stated that the Ramlila conveys universal themes of truth, dignity, and exemplary conduct, resonating strongly with Russian audiences. Supported by the Embassy of India and the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre, this performance continues a tradition dating back to the 1960s and underscores Ayodhya's cultural influence worldwide, Singh noted.
