Two individuals in the Jagtial district of Telangana are under scrutiny after partaking in a disturbing sacrificial ritual where goats were bled to death by humans biting their throats. This shocking practice was part of the traditional 'Bheemanna Jathara' fair in Raikal.
A complaint was filed by an animal rights activist, leading to the registration of an FIR against the organizers for animal cruelty. According to reports, around 50 goats were killed in this manner, with additional reports of counseling being conducted for involved parties, the authorities stated.
The ritual, popularly known as 'gavu pattadam,' isn't an unusual occurrence in local villages, yet it has sparked significant outrage and a subsequent police investigation. Videos depicting the gruesome acts showed a large audience gathered, as people believe this ritualistic act could help in fulfilling their wishes.
