In a shocking incident, six individuals sustained injuries when a notable Jagaddhatri Puja pandal collapsed due to a fierce storm in Chandannagar, Hooghly district of West Bengal. The 75-foot-high structure fell during a gale triggered by the severe cyclonic storm Montha.
Regarded as the tallest pandal globally, the structure crumbled after enduring strong winds. An official from Chandernagore Police Commissionerate reported that those injured suffered only minor injuries.
With the Met department predicting continued thunderstorms and gusty winds in Kolkata and its neighboring areas, safety measures are being prioritized. A police case has been registered against the organizers, and discussions are ongoing about how to safely proceed with the festival.
