The Global Mayors Dialogue-Zhengzhou, coupled with the 2025 International Mayor's Forum on Tourism, convened from October 22 to 25 in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. The forum delved into 'Preserving the Cultural Legacy of Ancient Capitals and Driving Urban Renewal,' assembling 300 guests, including mayors, city officials, and scholars from various nations. Discussions centered around merging urban rebirth with cultural heritage preservation.
Zhengzhou has pioneered a unique approach, emphasizing archaeological discovery before construction, ensuring cultural heritage protection amid urban growth. This is evident in initiatives like the Shang City Archaeological Site Park and the Fuminli cultural block, which harmoniously integrate ancient sites with contemporary urban life.
Zhengzhou's efforts have won international praise. Leaders like Italy's Maurizio Rasero and Spain's Juan de Dios Perez Garcia acknowledged Zhengzhou's success in preserving charm while embracing modernization. Meanwhile, New Zealand's Rotorua mayor emphasized the role of modern technology in revitalizing traditional culture, spurring economic growth and employment.
