Fiery Altercation at Kali Puja Procession Spirals Out of Control
A man was severely burned during an altercation at a Kali Puja immersion procession in Bediapara, South Dumdum. Ranjit Karmakar was engulfed in flames after an argument turned violent. In a shocking turn of events, a 45-year-old man sustained severe burn injuries after being set ablaze during a brawl at a Kali Puja immersion procession in Bediapara, South Dumdum, according to police reports.
The victim, Ranjit Karmakar, was involved in an altercation with other procession participants when one assailant allegedly used petrol from a scooter to fuel the flames. As Karmakar writhed in agony, he was rushed to a nearby medical facility.
Karmakar's condition remains critical, with 30% burn injuries, as his family accuses local youths of attempted murder. Authorities have launched an investigation, while local councillor Mrinmoy Das calls for justice.
