CBSE's Dual Exam Strategy Eases Student Pressure

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced on Friday that it has received over 6.68 lakh applications for the second edition of the CBSE class 10 board exams. Most applicants applied to improve their scores from the main exam, whose results were released earlier this month.

This new system, to be fully implemented by 2026, mandates students to take a main examination and offers a second chance for improvement or to clear compartments. As a result, students seeking to improve their scores can retake up to three subjects. The best scores from both exams will be reflected in the final mark sheet.

The board emphasized that this dual-exam approach aims to alleviate performance pressure on students while offering them more opportunities to enhance their academic outcomes. The second exam is scheduled from May 15 to May 21, 2026, with results expected to be declared by the end of June 2026.
