Sunkonnect, a pioneering renewable energy management consulting firm, has unveiled a formidable plan to curtail carbon dioxide emissions from educational institute campuses in India by 15% within the next four years. This initiative targets approximately 34 million tonnes of CO₂, making it a landmark effort in the industry, according to the company's statement.
India's extensive education sector, with over 248 million students and 1.47 million schools, generates a significant environmental impact, producing around 230 million tonnes of CO₂ annually. Addressing this, Sunkonnect plans to make campuses energy-efficient by leveraging solar power and other sustainable practices.
Through its Sunsol solution, Sunkonnect aims to install solar rooftops on over 5,000 schools in the coming decade. This strategy is part of their broader sustainability roadmap, including partner collaborations for GHG footprint assessment and to promote world-class sustainability standards within India's USD 35 billion education market.
