In response to soaring temperatures, all schools in Uttarakhand are set to implement a 'water bell' to ensure student hydration at regular intervals. This directive, aimed at maintaining student health, was issued by Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan during a meeting on heat wave preparedness on Wednesday.
Bardhan emphasized that student health must remain the top priority. Schools are instructed to adjust timings, maintain proper ventilation, and stock ORS and essential medicines. Additionally, practical information on heatstroke prevention will be provided to students.
District magistrates have been directed to ban construction in water-scarce areas temporarily, while hospitals are to remain ready for heat-related illnesses. With a rise in temperatures observed statewide, meticulous planning at state to village levels has been advised to tackle heat challenges.
