In a decisive move, Kerala's General Education Minister V Sivankutty announced that all schools in the state must observe the mandated summer vacation, citing legal and health reasons for the enforcement.
With Kerala facing extreme heatwave conditions, the minister stressed that these temperatures pose significant health risks to children. The government has already revised working hours to protect laborers, and similar considerations are being extended to students.
Sivankutty warned that conducting classes during the vacation period, which runs from the last working day of March to May, violates the Kerala Education Rules. He emphasized that the directive applies to all educational institutions, including government, aided, CBSE, and ICSE schools, with strict action promised for any violations.
