Audit Uncovers Academic Shortcomings at University of Jammu

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India's audit titled the University of Jammu has uncovered several deficiencies in its academic and administrative domains. The report emphasizes that courses were offered without mandatory approvals and recommended improvements in the affiliation process to align with regulatory norms and maintain academic quality.
Furthermore, the University has been criticized for weak industry ties and pitiable placement outcomes. Out of over 1,000 students in professional courses, only 224 secured jobs. The audit noted serious flaws in the examination system, including the frequent occurrence of assessment errors and substantial delays in evaluations, impacting student progression.
Adding to the institution's woes are inadequate industry collaborations, non-functional innovation centers, and serious lapses in teacher education programming. Approximately 84 affiliated colleges operated with temporary affiliation for extended periods, many lacking the proper accreditation and qualified staff, significantly undermining educational standards.
