During a convocation ceremony at Calcutta University, West Bengal Governor R N Ravi projected that by 2047, India will emerge as a global leader in science, research, and intellectual rights. He highlighted Bengal's cultural and spiritual heritage as a significant contributor to this future success.
Reflecting on India's historical prominence in fields like medicine and culture, Ravi recounted the country's decline in global rankings since the 19th century but stressed the transformative journey India is undergoing, starting from the past 12 years. He called on Calcutta University to align itself with this national transformation.
Ravi urged students to incorporate yoga into their daily lives to stay healthy, citing India's leadership in the practice of yoga. The convocation granted around 1,100 research scholars their doctoral degrees, while honorary degrees were awarded to distinguished individuals in science and education.
