The class 12 final exams of the Odisha board kicked off on Wednesday under heavy security, officials confirmed, engaging a substantial 4.01 lakh students across 1,364 centers. Conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), the exams began with Science papers, with Arts and Commerce streams slated to start on Friday.

The examinations will run until March 28. Among the students, 2.56 lakh are enrolled in Arts, 1.14 lakh in Science, and 24,621 in Commerce streams. Additionally, 5,932 students are part of vocational studies. The exams are scheduled daily from 10 am to 1 pm. CHSE’s Controller of Examinations, Prasanta Kumar Parida, indicated the use of live streaming and AI technology to monitor 211 question paper hubs.

Authorities have deployed special squads for surprise inspections to curb malpractices, Parida stated. Extending his support, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi encouraged students to embrace the examination calmly, ensuring optimal performance without stress. Practical exams were held from January 2 to 15.
