The Kerala government has temporarily halted the rollout of the Centre's PM SHRI initiative following arising controversies. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, addressing the media on Wednesday, disclosed that a special seven-member Cabinet sub-committee has been formed to thoroughly review the scheme's implementation in the state.

The Chief Minister clarified that all subsequent actions related to the scheme would remain suspended until the sub-committee submits its detailed report. This decision was made during a Cabinet meeting and will be officially communicated to the Centre through a formal letter.

The sub-committee will be led by General Education Minister V Sivankutty, including ministers K Rajan, P Rajeeve, Roshy Augustine, K Prasad, K Krishnsnkutty, and A K Saseendran. Despite prior efforts to resolve the deadlock between state and national CPI leadership, no consensus has been reached concerning Kerala's participation in the PM SHRI scheme.
