The Delhi government has taken a significant step toward enhancing cleanliness in schools by expanding its private sanitation services. An agreement with a private organization will now cover 621 additional schools, supplementing the 117 already benefiting from this service. This initiative is part of a broader effort to maintain high hygiene standards across all institutions.
According to officials, regular inspections will be conducted by departmental officers to ensure that the standards are consistently met. For schools not included in the private sanitation program, three to four regular sweepers will be allocated based on student population. This comprehensive approach aims to address sanitation needs dynamically.
Furthermore, school heads have been directed to ensure cleaning activities are completed at least 30 minutes before classes commence. The frequency of cleaning operations will vary, with some institutions receiving up to eight sessions daily, based on enrollment. Measures are also in place to guarantee contractors provide necessary manpower, with penalties for non-compliance, ensuring a cleaner and safer environment for students.
