Power Duo: Lahiri & Das to Lead Niti Aayog
Economist Ashok Lahiri and scientist Gobardhan Das, notable figures from West Bengal, are appointed as Niti Aayog's vice-chairman and member. Lahiri, a former chief economic advisor and 15th Finance Commission member, joins Das, director of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal, to drive policy-making.

In a significant move for policy-making in India, government sources disclosed on Friday the appointment of two notable figures to Niti Aayog. Economist Ashok Lahiri and scientist Gobardhan Das, both hailing from West Bengal, will assume the roles of vice-chairman and member, respectively.
Ashok Lahiri, acclaimed for his tenure as the chief economic advisor to the government, also plays a vital role in the 15th Finance Commission. His experience is anticipated to bring a seasoned perspective to his new position.
Joining him is Gobardhan Das, the current director of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research in Bhopal. Das previously served as a professor and chair for the Special Centre for Molecular Medicine at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and brings a rich scientific background to the table.
