The State-owned National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced plans on Thursday to develop a critical 12-kilometer bypass. The four-lane, access-controlled greenfield route aims to strengthen regional connectivity by linking the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor with the Paonta Saheb-Ballupur section of NH-7.
The strategic project, which costs approximately Rs 716 crore, is positioned as an alternative route diverting non-destined traffic around the urban core of Dehradun. NHAI reported that the initiative has reached 44% of its physical progress and is expected to conclude by April 2027.
Upon completion, the bypass will not only mitigate traffic congestion and vehicular pollution in Dehradun but will also facilitate improved inter-state connectivity to Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. The bypass serves as a crucial link for the expanding Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor.
