Pakistan Extends Airspace Ban Amid Ongoing Tensions with India

In a continued measure stemming from heightened cross-border tensions, Pakistan has announced the extension of its airspace closure to Indian aircraft until May 24. Initially imposed over a year ago following a terror attack in Kashmir, the restriction has significantly impacted air travel between the two nations.

The directive, articulated through a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) by the Pakistan Airport Authority, restricts Indian-registered and Indian-operated aircraft from entering Pakistani airspace, affecting both military and civilian flights.

Indian airlines have been compelled to adopt longer routes for international destinations due to these restrictions. Conversely, Pakistan aircraft remain banned from Indian airspace, with expectations of a further extension on this restriction, illustrating ongoing diplomatic discord.
