The Indian Navy demonstrated its rapid response capabilities on Wednesday by conducting a medical evacuation from the offshore oil rig Greatdrill Chhaya, located approximately 110 km off the Kochi coast. A 42-year-old individual suffering from cardiac complications required immediate evacuation, sparking the swift action.
An Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) from INS Garuda, equipped with a medical team, was dispatched at first light for the mission. Upon reaching the rig, the patient's condition was assessed by the onboard medical team, and the individual was promptly airlifted to Kochi.
The helicopter landed at precisely 7.02 am, after which the patient was transferred to shore-based medical authorities for further care. This operation highlights the Indian Navy's dedication to maritime safety and its readiness to execute high-pressure rescues with speed and professionalism, a statement from the defense spokesperson confirmed.
