In a decisive move to address allegations of fraud, Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has called for a thorough re-verification of autorickshaw permits in the Mira-Bhayandar region. This action follows complaints of irregularities and the use of fake documents.

The directive was issued during a meeting at the Mumbai suburban district collector's office, triggered by MLA Narendra Mehta's concerns. Sarnaik instructed transport department officials to deliver a detailed report by May 1.

Accusations hinted that some permits were acquired with forged documentation, including claims that foreign nationals used dubious residential proofs. A special investigation will review permit issuance over the past decade, with action promised against involved officials.
