Rajesh Kumar officially assumed the role of Director (Finance) at REC Limited on April 2, following the green light from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on March 25. His appointment, recommended by the Ministry of Power, is set for a tenure of five years, during which he will steer the corporation's financial course.
A finance veteran with over 30 years of public sector experience, Kumar's expertise spans accounts, taxation, audit, treasury, and more. Educated at Delhi University and dual-qualified as a Chartered and Cost & Management Accountant, Kumar's career includes pioneering roles at REC Limited and a CPSE focused on engineering consultancy.
Kumar's tenure as CEO of REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited showcased his strategic acumen in pioneering renewable energy projects and innovative financial instruments. His leadership has been crucial in broadening REC's investor base and reducing borrowing costs, positioning him as a pivotal figure in REC's ambitious restructuring efforts and India's energy transition.
