India has achieved a remarkable milestone in the defence sector with exports hitting an all-time high of Rs 38,424 crore in the financial year 2025-26, according to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. This represents a significant 62% growth compared to the previous year, underlining India's expanding influence as a formidable player in global defence trade.
The surge in exports mirrors the increased global trust in India's indigenous defence capabilities and manufacturing prowess, as highlighted by Singh. A collaborative effort between Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and private industry played a pivotal role, contributing 54.84% and 45.16% respectively to the total export figures.
The government attributes this success to improved ease of doing business for defence exporters and streamlined regulatory processes. With its defence equipment reaching over 80 countries, India continues to embed itself in international supply chains, poised for further growth in the coming years.
