Goa BJP MP Sadanand Tanavade urged immediate action in the Rajya Sabha regarding the prolonged delays affecting the expansion of National Highway 66. This crucial corridor connects Mumbai with Goa and has faced setbacks related to land acquisition, environmental permissions, and design issues.
Despite being approved over ten years ago, the project remains incomplete with several sections still featuring unfinished bridges and uneven road surfaces, notably worsening during the monsoon. The resulting traffic congestion and increased accident risk pose significant threats to road safety.
Accelerating the highway's completion would not only help commuters and tourists but also facilitate freight movement crucial for industries, agriculture, and small businesses in the Konkan region. Tanavade called for improved coordination among stakeholders and demanded a definitive timeline for project completion.
