Tata Steel's Green Leap: Ludhiana Welcomes State-of-the-Art EAF Facility
Tata Steel has launched a new scrap-based electric arc furnace in Ludhiana, symbolizing a significant step toward sustainable steelmaking. The facility, marked by low CO₂ emissions and high renewable energy use, showcases Tata Steel's commitment to a greener future and net-zero goals by 2045.

On Friday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated Tata Steel's cutting-edge scrap-based electric arc furnace, developed with an investment of approximately Rs 3,200 crore. The ceremony highlighted Punjab's attractive industrial environment.
The 0.75 million-tonne-per-annum facility is a milestone in Tata Steel's sustainable journey, boasting CO₂ emissions of less than 0.3 tonnes per tonne of steel. Company officials emphasized the importance of sustainability as a national priority.
Designed to operate with nearly 50 percent renewable energy and using 100 percent steel scrap, the facility aligns with Tata Steel's goal of net-zero by 2045. Tata Steel aims to enhance its construction segment market with its eco-friendly Tata Tiscon product line.
