On Thursday, European airlines expressed concerns over upcoming EU regulations mandating the use of synthetic green jet fuel, known as eSAF, by 2030. These airlines have requested a postponement of the rules.
easyJet CEO Kenton Jarvis highlighted the need for a delay at a news conference, stressing that eSAF should only be mandated once it becomes readily available. This call for postponement was first reported by Reuters.
Aviation stakeholders are echoing similar sentiments previously vocalized by the car industry, emphasizing that the infrastructure and supply for such fuels are not yet sufficiently developed.
