In response to an ongoing LPG shortage, Amazon India has seen a notable rise in demand for convenient, ready-to-consume meals. Instant noodles, packaged meals, snacks, and beverages have recorded over 15% growth in sales on the platform, reflecting consumers' urgent need for quick meal solutions.
The increase in demand isn't restricted to major urban centers. Rather, it spans cities like Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, and extends to tier-2 and tier-3 cities including Sonipat and Panaji. Particularly on Amazon's quick commerce segment, Amazon Now, the sales of ready-to-eat and packaged foods have climbed approximately 20% every month.
In addition to ready-meal purchases, traditional grocery categories like staples and dry fruits maintain strong traction. To accommodate both immediate needs and planned grocery shopping, Amazon India has launched a 'Ready to Eat Store' for easy access to meal solutions. Concurrently, the government plans to enhance commercial LPG supplies to address ongoing shortages due in part to geopolitical issues affecting supply routes.
