The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has given the green light to Adani Enterprises Ltd's bid to acquire Jaiprakash Associates Ltd through insolvency proceedings. The Rs 14,535 crore acquisition was approved by the Allahabad bench, marking a significant win for Adani in an intensely competitive bidding process.
The acquisition was backed by the Committee of Creditors, with Adani receiving an impressive 89 percent vote in favor, surpassing competitors Vedanta and Dalmia Bharat. The deal highlights Adani's strategic expansion, acquiring JAL's real estate, cement, and infrastructure assets.
JAL, which entered the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process after failing to meet loan obligations totaling Rs 57,185 crore, has a wide range of assets, including prominent real estate projects and cement plants. This acquisition is poised to strengthen Adani's presence in multiple sectors.
