In the early hours of Friday, VS Hotel in Chala market became the scene of a bizarre heist involving an LPG cylinder. The 19-kg commercial cooking gas cylinder was allegedly stolen, further exacerbating the ongoing LPG shortage crisis in the region due to the conflict in West Asia.

Owner Vimal Kumar recounted the break-in, highlighting how the thief disabled electricity to compromise CCTV surveillance. Despite these efforts, the surveillance camera connected to a UPS captured crucial evidence of the incident. The thief ultimately absconded with the filled cylinder, leaving the hotel grappling with the shortage.

Faced with limited LPG reserves, the hotel could only serve biryani on Friday and announced a complete shutdown going forward. Kumar has filed a complaint, expressing suspicions of rivalry involvement. The police are currently investigating, with CCTV footage handed over for further examination.
