A prominent craft rum distillery near Mysuru has been forced to halt operations as the impacts of an LPG supply disruption ripple through the region. The ongoing conflict in West Asia has led to significant bottlenecks in gas availability, critical for the distillery's production needs.
Aruna Urs, the founder of the distillery, announced the shutdown of Huli Spirits on Thursday via her social media account. Huli Spirits, known as India's first premium craft rum made from jaggery, has relied heavily on LPG to fuel its distillation process, now in jeopardy due to the supply shortage.
The LPG shortfall has similarly crippled several small manufacturing units, with many restaurants, hotels, and catering services either shutting down or struggling with minimal fuel reserves. For the distillery and others impacted, uncertainty looms over how long these operational disturbances will last.
