Phuket Airport Resumes Operations After Air India Express Mishap
Phuket airport in Thailand reopened Tuesday night after a closure caused by an Air India Express plane encountering a nose wheel issue on landing. This incident adds to recent challenges for both Air India and its subsidiary. An investigation into the incident is underway.
The runway at Thailand's Phuket airport resumed operations late on Tuesday after being temporarily closed due to a problem encountered by an Air India Express aircraft. The plane suffered a nose wheel issue upon landing, which led to several hours of disruption, as confirmed by Phuket's governor.
This mishap is part of a broader pattern of technical challenges facing Air India Express and its parent company, Air India. Phuket serves as a crucial travel hub in Thailand, accommodating numerous flights daily from regions including the Middle East, Europe, and Asia, in addition to domestic routes.
According to a spokesperson for Air India Express, Flight AXB938 from Hyderabad experienced damage to its landing gear as it touched down, forcing crew to execute standard procedures to deplane passengers safely. Authorities have promised a thorough investigation following the repair and installation of new nose wheels.
