Maharashtra Prioritizes Domestic LPG Amid Global Disruptions

The Maharashtra government is poised to cut commercial LPG supplies as global tensions disrupt the fuel supply chain. Chhagan Bhujbal, the state's Food and Civil Supplies Minister, revealed this measure follows directives from the central government, urging a focus on domestic consumers.

Hotel operators in Maharashtra, particularly in Mumbai, face potential challenges as the state considers phased reductions in commercial LPG. The use of kerosene as an alternative met with resistance due to safety concerns. Amidst this, strict actions will target LPG hoarders, as announced by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

The conflict-induced closure of the Strait of Hormuz has strained LPG imports, critical to India's fuel needs. Criticism from the Congress party was countered by Minister Bawankule, who urged unity in crisis management and highlighted the priority of uninterrupted domestic gas supply.
